The range hood didn't vent to the outside (just recycled the air through the filters). Since Megan sometimes (umm, very rarely) burns stuff, having the hood vented to the outside would help. Luckily there was plenty of space above the cabinets behind the facia to run a 6" aluminum flexible tube.
